Maple Syrup Substitute

Pure maple syrup contains some much needed minerals - in fact it contains more minerals than honey. But although we've used pure maple syrup in the past and will use it again in the future, it's a no-no for us while we're healing our digestive tracts.

We opt for raw honey due to the fact that it has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral agents but also because its raw enzymes are so beneficial to the digestive system.

We made some french toast this morning but what's french toast without maple syrup? So I whipped up a concoction of raw honey, mapleine flavoring and water and we had ourselves a delicious breakfast!

Here's the recipe:

Maple Syrup Substitute

1 cup water
1/4 tsp. (maybe a little less) mapleine flavoring
1 1/2 to 2 T. raw honey

Stir together and drizzle over french toast.

Enjoy!
